Established in 1968, the North River Arts Society (NRAS) is a grass roots non-profit organization fostering participation and appreciation of the arts. The Society is governed by a Board of Directors and resides at the G.A.R. Hall. P.O. Box 307 – 157 Old Main Street in Marshfield Hills, 02051. The NRAS offers classes for adults and children, a Festival of the Arts, Members Show, Childrens Day, Holiday Arts Sale, workshops, scholarships, financial aid, newsletters, passes to the MFA, membership discounts for classes and supplies, and exhibits at Ventress Library Gallery, Dolphin Gallery, and the artists cooperative Switch Gallery. "The philosophy of the NRAS is to encourage and support artists and patrons of the arts for the promotion of cultural enrichment in the community; to always keep before us the concept of how to reflect best what the NRAS is; and to take care to ensure that all types and styles of art work be treated fairly and equally without prejudice for one kind or another in the classes, exhibits, and shows sponsored by the NRAS."
