Since its beginning in Fall 2002 Mavi (Mah-vee) Dance has been the leading international folk dance group in Boston area. With its free lessons and performances, Mavi Dance aims to reach to everyone who would be interested in the world of international dance and music. Its repertoire of dances from Georgia, Turkey, Russia, Ossetia, Poland, Spain, Central Asia, and China, represents a colorful mixture of Boston’s ethnically diverse population. By giving a modern interpretation to the rich and ancient musical heritage of the pieces being performed, Mavi Dance brings the traditional folkdances of these exotic regions into the 21st century. Mavi Dances choreographers were recently selected as finalists in Massachusetts Choreography competition.
