PO Box 200359, Boston, MA 02120

Founded in 1999 by Carol Barry and Kate Sullivan (founding members), Jessica Barry, Jen Lewis, Lydia Polanco, Luanne Witkowski. Also joining, Bill Commerford, Arthur Birkland, and Maggie Cohn (former Mission Hill Main Streets, Director). Many more residents did join the group and exhibited with MHAC since then.

Throughout the years, MHAC has developed new initiatives for community residents-artists to join. We provides support to each artist by promoting their own exhibition outside of the community and find resources that aid the artists in their quest for spaces to showcase.

Our goals include providing opportunities to show art in the Mission Hill community and throughout the City of Boston. We look to unite neighboring artists in dialogue, to discuss and reflect upon the ideas and intentions of our creative endeavors. The Collectives’ mission is to learn from one another and create ways for community folks to learn with us. We welcome artists of any media – and residents – to collaborate in exhibiting, planning, and promoting art events within this diverse community of Mission Hill.

The Mission Hill Artists Collective is composed of dedicated, multi-ethnic, various aged, resident members, arts supporters, and volunteers. We have delightedly and successfully orchestrated exhibitions since 1999 in our neighborhood as well as in Scollay Square Gallery/Boston City Hall, Parker Hill Branch-Boston Public Library, Middle East Cafe, The Brand House, Graystar Exhibition Space in Cambridge, Diablo Glass, Mission Hill Neighborhood Services, Out of the Blue Gallery, Sparring Partners, All About the Arts, Brigham Circle Realty, Gallery at Franklin Square, Tobin School (Jessica Barry) Harvard School of Public Health, and Roxbury/Mission Hill Open Studios. Many of  our artists continue exhibiting around New England and beyond.  We have collaborated with local institutions and businesses and plan to continue doing so in the years ahead. The Collective is looking to draw new artists to collaborate with us as well as expanding the exhibition schedule to include other venues within the City of Boston and even further.

Mission Hill Artists Collective has been the recipient of the Mission Hill/Fenway Trust Award making it possible for MHAC to offer workshops, talks, and art events in collaboration with the Parker Hill Branch of the Boston Public Library as our main collaborator. We also continue collaboration and joining community events with Mission Hill Health Movement, Mission Hill Main Streets (fiscal agent), MassArt Center for Art and Community Partnerships (CACP), and most recent with InFocus Camera. Also, extending our relationships  with Sociedad Latina, Oscar Parker and Boston Area Gardner’s Association, to name a few.
