Music for Food Concert - “Parlando”

Music for Food Concert - “Parlando”

Presented by Music for Food and New England Conservatory at NEC's Brown Hall

Music for Food Boston’s 14th Season–Parlando–is all about musical storytelling. Each program features both a piece with spoken-word elements and a world premiere for viola. The brilliant soprano (and curator of this concert) Lucy Fitz Gibbon will perform alongside pianist Ryan MacEvoy McCullough, violinist Julian Rhee, violist Kim Kashkashian, and cellist Leland Ko, and violist Luther Warren will play a world premiere by Ethan Chaves. In all MFF concerts, artists donate their stupendous talent and valuable time and audience members give what they can to support a local food relief organization. Admission to the concert is free with a suggested donation ($40/adult, $15/student), no tickets or RSVPs are necessary, and ALL proceeds will go to Women’s Lunch Place–a day shelter serving women experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty in the greater Boston area. More information about the concert and a link to donate may be found at https://musicforfood.net/boston/s14c2.

Music for Food is a musician-led initiative for local hunger relief. All concerts raise resources and awareness in the fight against hunger, empowering any musicians who wish to use their artistry to further social justice. Founded in 2010 by Grammy award-winning violist Kim Kashkashian, Music for Food has sent funds for over 2 million meals to hunger-relief organizations nationwide, with the volunteer participation of more than 160 artists and ensembles.

Women’s Lunch Place inspires hope and supports the development of self-sustaining skills for women experiencing hunger, homelessness, and poverty. WLP creates a safe, welcoming day shelter community in which we respect the dignity of our guests. WLP builds trusting relationships to provide individualized, integrated services focused on nutrition, health, housing, and economic empowerment.
