The Last Waltz Celebration with The Band Band

The Last Waltz Celebration with The Band Band

Presented by The Cabot at The Cabot

The Band’s pioneering blend of country, blues, rock, and folk music served as a template for what we now call Americana. And from Woodstock to The Last Waltz, they have been at the center of rock and roll’s most iconic moments.

The Last Waltz, The Band’s legendary Thanksgiving 1976 farewell concert that was immortalized in Martin Scorsese’s 1978 music documentary of the same name, featured more than a dozen guest artists including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, and Eric Clapton, and showcased The Band’s classic hits like “The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” “Ophelia,” and “It Makes No Difference,” to name a few.

“It was one of the most incredible concerts ever held,” says Gary Solomon, co-founder of The THE BAND Band. He would know because he was there. “I knew that what I was seeing was not just another rock concert. It was a once in a lifetime moment.” There is a sense of passion and a personal mission in Solomon’s desire to share that moment. “I was so blown away by the experience of being at The Last Waltz, I wanted to tell the whole world about it” he says. “I guess I still do.”

In addition to performing The Band’s hits, reminiscent of The Last Waltz, The THE BAND Band also becomes the backing band for the guest artists representing many of the special guest performances from that night: Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young,” Ronnie Hawkins’ “Who Do You Love,” Van Morrison’s “Caravan,” and so many more.
