Arlington Heights Spring Fling Festival 2023

Presented by Arts Arlington and Arlington Chamber of Commerce at Arlington Heights Neighborhood

Join for a special seasonal celebration of community in Arlington Heights on Saturday, June 10, 2 – 5pm! Spring Fling Festival 2023 will feature live music, poetry readings, a variety of family-fun activities, 29 community information tables on environmental sustainability, and beautifully painted storefront windows with colorful spring themes!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 2023 

FAMILY ACTIVITIES

 2-5pm Meet Nuala, a Great Horned Owl, and Falconer Diane Welch
LOCATION:  Outdoors in front of ACMi Studio, 85 Park Avenue

2-5pm: ACMI takes you into other worlds with green screen technology
LOCATION: Inside ACMI Studio, 85 Park Ave

2-3:30pm: Kids Craft – make a paper bird with artist Tonya Grifkin
LOCATION:  Wonder Yoga Studio, 1346 Mass Ave

2 -5pm: Touch-A-Truck hosted by the Arlington Fire and Police Departments, joined by Top Notch Contracting’s Mini Excavator and Intelligent Labor and Moving Company’s unique electric truck! AND Family Games: Bean bag and ring toss!

LIVE MUSIC

2-3pm: TNT – Jazz and R&B with Jeff Robinson on Tenor Sax and Dave Harris on Tuba with special guest Jim Arhelger on Drums
LOCATION:  Outdoors at MyEyeDr. – Corner of Park Ave and Mass Ave

2:30-3:30pm: Lucy and Jeff Pyle – Bluegrass Duo (Fiddle and Guitar)
LOCATION:  Heights Bus Depot

3:30-4pm: Japanese Taiko drumming by Odaiko New England
LOCATION: D’Agostino’s Parking Lot, 1297 Mass Ave

4-5pm: Finale: Dirty Water Brass Band
LOCATION: Starts at Depot, parades to D’Agostino’s Parking Lot for performance, 1297 Mass Ave

CHORAL MUSIC AND POETRY AT PARK AVE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH

2-4pm: Get out of the sun and bustle and enjoy alternating music and poetry readings. Arlington Poet Laureate Jean Flanagan will debut her collective Kindness Poem, written with community input. She has invited local poets Thomas DeFreitas, Steve Rapp, and Andy Oram to share their work. The Cantilena Choir and The Madrigal Singers share the magic of their vocal music.

EXPLORE THE ARTS

2-4pm: Plein Air painting featuring Suzanne Menon and Sudakshina Bhattacharya
LOCATION: Outdoors in front of Apothca, 1386 Mass Ave

2-5pm: Exhibition featuring Larry Terry and Maria Fonseca, drawings and photographs.
LOCATION:  Roasted Granola Café, 1346 Mass Ave

2-5pm: Take your own tour of some of the 50+ storefront windows painted by community neighbors to celebrate spring & sustainability
LOCATION: Throughout the Heights

TAKE ACTION – PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT!

2-5pm: Learn from 24 organizations on how you can promote a healthier environment.
3 LOCATIONS:  Heights Bus Depot, Park Ave in front of ACMi, and 1308-1312 Mass (next to the Heights Pub)
Free Festival Parking at Arlington Coal and Lumber’s lot, 41 Park Avenue
