View “Waiting for the Boats,” a rarely-seen 1882 Winslow Homer watercolor recently donated to the National Park Service, followed by a champagne reception and lecture by Sylvia Yount, curator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site recently welcomed Waiting for the Boats, an 1882 watercolor painting by Winslow Homer, into its museum collection. Please join the celebration of this wonderful painting and its generous donor on Tuesday, June 6.
Event registration includes a scheduled time to view the painting in the Longfellow House (105 Brattle Street), followed by a catered reception next door at Lincoln Institute of Land Policy (113 Brattle Street). At 6:30 PM, Sylvia Yount, the Lawrence A. Fleischman Curator in Charge of the American Wing of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will present a talk that places Waiting for the Boats in context of Homer’s oeuvre. Her talk will also be livestreamed.
