ISTANBUL NOTES
A cinematic improvisation through Istanbul's music
Documentary / 69 min. / with English subtitles
Directed by Özlem Sarıyıldız & Yunus Emre Aydın
‘İstanbul Makamı’ is a cinematographic improvisation with five musicians from abroad who fell in love with the Maqam Music, and decided to live in Turkiye believing that music would be best learned on the land that it was born and performed. Each musician has his/her personal story but their paths intersect with their desire to find their own paths.
Presented by the Turkish American Cultural Society of New England in partnership with
the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement
