Joni Meets Jazz

Presented by Boston Jazz Foundation at Herter Park Amphitheater

Caio e Jess pays tribute to the musical legend, Joni Mitchell at Herter Park Amphitheater June 18th as part of Herter Park’s Jazz Series sponsored by Boston Jazz Foundation.

Caio e Jess uniquely blend their backgrounds in Jazz, Rock-Pop and Brazilian Music to create a new unique spin on classic Joni tunes including “Big Yellow Taxi”, “Both Sides Now” and “Woodstock” followed by a set of their own original compositions.

Both professors at Berklee College of music and with awards such as the ASCAP Young Composers Award and John Lennon Songwriting Contest under their belts, Caio e Jess provide an ethereal, immersive and honest show of virtuosic electricity with either full band or duo. Their works explore the many forms of compassion shown to ourselves, to each other, and to the planet with poetic lyrics, sophisticated harmonies and a synthesis of organic instruments and modern technology.

In Northern Brazil, a natural phenomenon occurs called “Encontro das Águas” translating from Portuguese to “The Meeting of the Waters”. Two distinctly different rivers meet and flow side by side, unmixed for miles, before heading toward the ocean as one. Caio e Jess strive to embody this philosophy as a married international couple using their shared experiences to create compositions unlike any other. Currently, the two are gearing up to release their debut full-length album, “The Meeting of the Waters”, featuring some of the finest musicians from around the globe including prestigious guests such as Laura Perrudin, Marissol Mwaba, Henrique Eisenmann and Raphael Barata.
