Radical Futures: Affirmational Drawing for Love & Liberation with Chetna Mehta

Radical Futures: Affirmational Drawing for Love & Liberation with Chetna Mehta

Presented by The Theater Offensive at Online/Virtual Space

This episode helps us set our space and mindframe for permission-giving expression, freedom-oriented play, and invitation to draw the world we want to live in. This practice is open to people with all relationships to "drawing": rather than focusing on technique, we center our inherent birthright and ability to put pen to paper as we uplift messages of love for ourselves, each other and the planet.

Through intentional collaborations with three QTPOC femme artists we will investigate themes of wholeness, unrealities, space and segregation, healing, lineage & time travel, and belonging to write a love letter to the craft and ourselves. Radical Futures goals are:

To HONOR Black Feminism, its legacy, and crucial role in Queer liberation.
To ACKNOWLEDGE that Black women and femmes are inherently valuable, and that  our joy and artistic practice is inherent activism.
To PRACTICE collective care as an essential ingredient to solidarity in collective liberation.
To AMPLIFY Black women, femmes, and gender expansive individuals.

Radical Futures will be a three-episode dive into radical, queer Black feminism and Afrofuturism. Each episode will be 15 – 30 minutes in length and feature 3 femme artists/organizations (Boston-based & national) who The Theater Offensive identifies as the stewards of Radical Feminism. Each artist/facilitator will work with our Programs Team to create an episode that welcomes the viewer into their artistic practice as fellow stewards, colleagues, co-creators, care workers, activists, and pleasure seekers. Join us for this queer radical reframing and intentional imagining in May and June 2023.
