About the Class or Event

2 Sessions, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

June 24 and June 25, In Studio

Skill Level: All

Class: $315 (Log in for membership discount prices)

Description: Are you always searching for your perfect purse or bag? One that will enable you to find what you need, when you need it? Working with your color choices of wool roving, using the wet felting technique, Ellen will instruct how to create a purse with a pocket(s) and loops for straps all in one seamless piece. No sewing involved. The front flap of a purse is the perfect canvas to add your personal touch. Ellen will show you three flowers you can create to add to your purse or turn into brooches for a hat, coat or even a fascinator. So many options, you may find the need to make more than one!

This weekend workshop will be held on the following two dates: June 24th and June 25th.  There will be a lunch break, so bring some food with you!

Prerequisites: You should know how to layout wool to create a wet felted piece, but if you have the ambition to learn, please join in the fun!

Materials: Materials for this class should be purchased by students here.

About the instructor: Ellen Silberlicht is an artist who combines clay with sculptural felted tops, in a unique marriage of materials. Ellen says of her creations: "I enjoy the thrill in translating an idea into wool, for wool has limitless possibilities and the problem solving involved keeps me engaged and continually challenged."

Ellen's creative expressions have always taken her on adventures across mediums. Her travels, life experiences, and education have given her a distinct style. Through fiber, clay, metal arts, painting and more, Ellen translates her concepts into the materials combinations best suited for her artwork. As a retired art teacher, she has successfully demonstrated her ability and love of sharing her passions. Her sense of humor and positive outlook on life unfolds in the work she creates and the joy she shares with others.
