Program: John Rutter’s Requiem; Florence Price Praise the Lord and settings from Communion Service in F
In troubled or sad times, people the world over seek solace and greater harmony in musical settings of religious texts. In composing his Requiem, John Rutter sought to write music that was consoling while also conveying a sense of journeying from darkness to light. In Praise the Lord, Florence Price draws on Psalm 117. In her Communion Service in F, she uses the text of the communion service in creating music that uplifts, inspires, and calms. With all the challenges of recent years, join Commonwealth Chorale in the final concert of the season for music that comforts, helps our spirits move from darkness to light, and gives hope for more harmonious times.
