Both artists, Tien and Evans, build their sculpture of found objects. Evans is more likely to combine found objects from the domestic world and Tien chooses branches and objects from the natural world. Evans alters the meaning of paired objects while Tien examines the objects through the lens of language.

Evans purposefully chooses things that are broken, outgrown or overlooked as her primary material and subject matter, fusing together amalgamations that surprise and amuse, while imbuing each object with new meaning. Wen-hao Tien’s I Love Your Grammatical Errors, featuring an array of imaginative multi-media works contemplating language, communication, and the natural world. Tien gathered tree limbs bearing excessive markings made by a variety of insects.
