Music for Food Concert

Music for Food Concert

Presented by Music for Food and New England Conservatory at NEC's Brown Hall

The finale of Notes from Across the Sea–Music for Food’s 13th Boston core concert season–begins at 7:30pm on Sunday, April 23, in New England Conservatory’s Brown Hall, with Brahms’ Piano Quintet, Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 59, No. 1, and Schumann songs. Our stupendous artists Ayano Ninomiya, Lucy Chapman, Kim Kashkashian, Peter Stumpf, Alessio Bax, and the Parker Quartet. All Music for Food artists donate their time and talent to raise awareness of food insecurity and support local food relief efforts. Admission is free, and donations are welcomed, as all proceeds will benefit Women’s Lunch Place (WLP), which will soon launch its 40th anniversary of providing needed resources to vulnerable women in Boston.

Thanks in part to MFF’s $22,918.12 contribution last season, WLP prepared and served a record 111,009 healthy meals in the last fiscal year. This comes at a critical time, because:

One in three adults in Massachusetts experienced food insecurity last year
Grocery prices are higher than they’ve been since WLP’s inception

Music for Food is a musician-led initiative for local hunger relief. All concerts raise resources and awareness in the fight against hunger, empowering any musicians who wish to use their artistry to further social justice. Founded in 2010 by Grammy award-winning violist Kim Kashkashian, Music for Food has sent funds for over 1.8 million meals to hunger-relief organizations nationwide, with the volunteer participation of more than 160 artists and ensembles.
