Description: In this weekend workshop class you will learn to how to photo etch sterling silver to make interesting and beautiful jewelry. After applying a design to metal and letting it sit in a vat of acid, the metal is etched away in the uncovered areas leaving a stricking, embossed image. You will leave the workshop with unique jewelry pieces that you designed and created yourself.
Materials: A $60 materials fee will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class to cover the costs of acid and kits. For silver, students can either bring their own 18 gauge silver sheet, or buy their silver directly from the instructor during the class.
About the instructor: Theresa Carmichael is a painting conservator who has been practicing the art of silversmithing since 1974. She teaches Adult Ed jewelry classes at Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School and LexArt.
