A one-act play about love, loss, and the power of language.
Scott Harney wrote poetry for more than thirty years, but his work wasn’t published until his partner recovered over 100 poems from his computer and file boxes in their basement after Harney’s death. Created in the style of A. R. Gurney’s Love Letters and Sara Ruhl’s Dear Elizabeth, Meet Scott Harney is written and performed by Harney’s partner, Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Megan Marshall, along with David Gullette of The Poets’ Theatre.
Interweaving Harney’s poems with intimate stories of his youth growing up in Charlestown, attending Harvard and studying with Robert Lowell, as well as his battle with mantle cell lymphoma, this one-act play is an inspirational story about love, loss, and the power of language.
The performance will take place in Bigelow Chapel. Immediately following the reading, they will host a Q & A with writer and performer, Megan Marshall.
Tickets are $25 per person.
