FREE Concert with Ethiopian-Israeli Musician Gili Yalo!

Presented by Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University at Brandeis University

Join Brandeis for a free concert with Israeli Ethiopian rock star Gili Yalo, who returns to North America this Spring with his 5-piece band. Yalo thrills with his exciting brew of Ethiopian roots music fused with soul, funk, psychedelic and jazz, singing in Amharic, English and Hebrew. Invariably, he finds himself surrounded by dancing, singing, adoring audiences, brought to their feet by the sheer joy of his talent and personality.

FREE and open to all. Seating is limited. To ensure your spot, advance registration is strongly recommended. Learn more and register: http://tiny.cc/concert-giliyalo.

“His performance was energetic and had the audience on their feet from the first song. He is not only a gifted singer but a natural performer and storyteller.”
-LaGamma, Therese A Public Programs Director, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where Gili Yalo performed last fall.

The concert will kick off a conference, "Ethiopian Israelis and the Creation of Knowledge: Encounters of Homeland and Diaspora," at Brandeis University, which continues on April 24, with academic workshops.

Cosponsored by Schusterman Center for Israel Studies and the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education at Brandeis University..
