Ink Spot Reading: Pigeon House by Kara Hadden

Ink Spot Reading: Pigeon House by Kara Hadden

Presented by Fresh Ink Theatre and Boston Center for the Arts (BCA) at Boston Center for the Arts

Two Lindas, endless rumors, queer undergrads, oh my! I’ve a feeling we’re not in 1899 Louisiana anymore. No wait. I’ve a feeling we’re not in book club anymore. Or are we…? Bring out the Trader Joe’s appetizers, ladies, and pour yourself another glass of sauv blanc. A sort-of adaptation of Kate Chopin’s The Awakening, Pigeon House explores the ways that wealthy suburban womanhood begins and ends lives.

Kara Hadden (she/her) is a playwright and poet from Southborough, MA whose writing explores queer femininity, self-invention, mental illness, and faith—among, of course, other things... Kara’s poems have been published at Soft Punk Mag and awarded the Bullock Prize via the Academy of American Poets. Her plays have been developed at STUDIO'62 in affiliation with the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Hopkinton Center for the Arts, Yale College, and Williams; they have been supported by Yale's Seymour Lustman Fellowship, Williams' Robert G. Wilmers Fellowship, and the Dunbar Writing Prize. Kara studies Theatre and History at Williams College, and she could not be more excited to be working with Fresh Ink this season!

For the safety and comfort of all who attend our shows, all patrons must wear masks throughout the building unless actively eating or drinking. Learn more.
