Learn to see patterns with an artist’s eye in order to create painterly images with our cameras.
Skill Level: All
Description: Have you ever been to a restaurant or dinner party and been fascinated by the patterns reflected in the glasses on the table? Or noticed the reflections around a boat in the harbor, or on the hood of a shiny black car? Glass, water, and metal are three materials in common use around us that can bend light, creating fascinating patterns and distortions. In this class, we're going to learn to see these patterns with an artist's eye in order to create painterly images with our cameras.
For this class you can use any type of digital camera, a phone camera, or both. The first session will be 3-hours in-studio at LexArt, where you will rotate around a room full of setups. We will work with these setups in the studio to practice making clear, sharp images of these patterns which can often be tricky to photograph. The second session will be an hour and a half online image review. We'll look at one another's images and discuss options for improving the images with some editing such as cropping and/or color and lighting adjustments.
