Anne Quinlan attended her first art class course 60 years ago at the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts in Jamaica Plain. She is a founding member of the West Roxbury Art Association which was founded in 1976. She currently serves at the association’s president. She has had many exhibitions and presented many demonstrations. She formerly taught oil painting at Newton Community Schools and a founder of the Arts Academy of West Roxbury. The work in this exhibit includes work from throughout her long career.
“Quinlan excels at capturing the moments we wish to bottle up and store for a lifetime–an afternoon on a windswept beach: a visit from a striking cardinal: cotton candy sky at sunset: a wink from a favorite four-legged friend. Instead of storing these moments privately, Quinlan shares them through her creative vehicles of depiction. Once- cast-aside oyster shells, driftwood, and ordinary beach rocks become tokens of passage to freely visit these fleeting moments we universally treasure.”
