Experience the power and brilliance of a singularly compelling artist when Evgeny Kissin makes a long-awaited return to the Symphony Hall stage!
In recent performances with Celebrity Series, Evgeny Kissin has done it all; he has appeared to acclaim as a chamber music partner with the Emerson String Quartet and as a collaborative pianist with the esteemed soloists Itzhak Perlman and Renée Fleming. In the 2022/23 season, he returns to center stage with his first Symphony Hall solo recital since 2014. The event promises power, staggering technical prowess, and sublime music-making.
The program features Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue, Mozart’s Sonata No. 9 in D Major, and Debussy’s Estampes. The second half is devoted to the late-Romantic composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, on the 150th anniversary of his birth; Kissin will play selections from Rachmaninoff’s Preludes and the complete Études-Tableaux. Let your imagination wander as Kissin sets the scene for the great composer’s sweeping, virtuosic, and evocative “picture pieces.”
