The Midwinter Revels: A Solstice Celebration!
Our 52nd annual Midwinter Revels takes us into the past to a time and place of great change in American history – Ellis Island of the 1920’s. A point of entry to the New World for many immigrants, Ellis Island was a place where many peoples and cultures came together from all over the world.
It is Christmas Eve, and a delay in the processing on Ellis Island means that a number of families from Ireland, Russia, and Germany must spend some extended time together. The Irish and Old World Jewish families have many differences, but through the curiosity of their children and the insights of the Mexican nurses who are charged with their care, they find ways to celebrate their rite of passage through music, song, and story.
The performance running time is 2 hours 30 minutes with intermission, which includes The Lord of the Dance.

Your tickets to Midwinter Revels: A Solstice Celebration include free parking at the nearby Broadway Garage, Felton Street, Cambridge. We also encourage Revels attendees to use public transportation. Sanders Theatre is a short walk from the Harvard Square Red Line stop.

Sanders Theatre

Sanders Theatre is wheelchair accessible on the floor level with ramp entrances at both ends of the transept (lobby). Note: the Theatre does not provide wheelchairs. Accessible seating in the theatre is on Orchestra level only, sold at all price levels based upon availability. There are elevators in the building that lead to restrooms in the basement; however, not to Mezzanine or Balcony seating.
Sanders Theatre is equipped with assisted listening devices for hearing enhancement. Please check with the box office manager or production manager to borrow a device. Our Sennheiser Infrared Assistive Listening System devices include both Sennheiser RI 100-J stethophone receivers and EZT 100 Induction Neckloops for use with hearing aids.
Sanders Theatre allows service animals in the theatre to accompany an event attendee. Service Animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the Service Animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective means. Read more about Service Animals from the Harvard University Disability Resources.
Accessible parking at Sanders Theatre: There is no parking at Sanders Theatre itself. Patrons may be dropped off in the circle driveway on the Kirkland Street side of Sanders Theatre near the accessible entrance. We encourage patrons to park at either the Broadway Garage or 52 Oxford Street Garage. The Broadway Garage is accessible with a few spaces on the first floor that can be used for accessible parking. There are curb cuts at all crosswalks between the garage and the Theatre. If necessary, a limited number of accessible parking spaces may be available in a nearby location by advance arrangement only. It is extremely difficult to honor requests received less than 2 business days prior to an event - please plan ahead and contact the office as early as possible.
