Holiday art sale (posters, gouaches, oil paintings) of French artist Diane Esmond to benefit the Community Church of Boston.
Diane Esmond (1910-1981) was a French artist whose work evolved from the impressionist and post-impressionist traditions toward more abstract expression, in-spired especially by tropical forest scenes. Her work from the 1930s was exhibited at the time in Paris but was seized by Nazi occupying forces in 1941. She escaped with her family to New York, returning to France in the mid-1950s. Her later work drew on trips to southern France, Italy, and the Caribbean.
Proceeds from the sales will help the church restore its façade and repair its roof. Contact the Community Church of Boston at 617-266-6710 and info@communitychurchofboston. org; and Victor Wallis (artist's son) at 617-776-9505.
