Somerville Songwriter Sessions at the Armory Cafe presents contemporary folk singer/songwriters in concert on the first Saturday of each month. The Armory Cafe features live music in an intimate setting, a menu featuring sandwiches, soups, desserts and coffees, and plenty of free parking. Please note that all attendees are encouraged to wear a mask except while eating or drinking. Our 11/5 performers:

Tim Foley is a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist whose sound doesn't settle easily into a descriptive box. You'll hear an amalgamation of musical styles he has gravitated towards, which include blues, jazz, folk, classical, and funk. Tim lived in New Orleans for a number of years, and his music is heavily influenced by the city's tradition of musical experimentation. His songs, both instrumental and vocal, range from upbeat foot stompers to relaxing melodic soundscapes. He has a self-produced instrumental CD featuring original guitar instrumentals and is currently finishing up an album featuring his jazzier material in a band setting. More at www.timfoley.space.

Doug Kwartler's songs have been featured on major television networks including the top CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, the TNT drama Dark Blue, the ABC soap opera All My Children as well as in independent films. He was chosen as a Falcon Ridge Festival Emerging New Artist in 2013. For over 20 years, Doug has recorded produced a host of artists out of his Chelmsford based studio, Hollow Body Studios. He is one-half of the Massachusetts based Americana duo The Lied To's, with award-winning songwriter Susan Levine. More at liedtomusic.com.

Boston musician Sam Bayer is your literate, exuberant guide to an imaginary world where housewives win the Nobel Prize in physics, poker-playing children gamble over their bedtimes, and metaphorical elephants pirouette in the den, four and a half minutes at a time. His latest studio CD The Great Indoors brings 11 gems from his universe to yours.
