Across Divides

Presented by First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton at First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton

Eleuthera Trio, a Boston area-based piano trio (Lois Shapiro, piano, Francine Trester, violin & Julie Reimann, cello), will perform ‘Across Divides at 3 pm on Sunday September 18, 2022 at First Unitarian Universalist Society in Newton, 1326 Washington St in Newton, MA.

The concert benefits Doctors Without Borders, a nonprofit organization that brings assistance to victims of conflict, natural disasters, epidemics and healthcare exclusion. The program includes Frank Martin's scintillating Trio on Popular Irish Melodies, Astor Piazzolla's exciting Otoño Porteño, Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skoryk's hauntingly beautiful Melody, and Maurice Ravel's exquisite Trio in a minor. Each piece conjures a different cultural experience, via a 'taste' of the folklore of Ireland, Argentina, the Ukraine, and Basque country. All proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, in particular support of their work in the Ukraine and in Afghanistan.
