From the museum’s archives, this Encore Presentation features a 2013 conversation between the late artist Ellsworth Kelly and former Rose director Christopher Bedford.
The Rose Art Museum presents Encore Presentations, a new series highlighting the museum’s long history of engaging emerging and leading contemporary artists in critical conversations. This Encore Presentation features a conversation between Ellsworth Kelly and Christopher Bedford, Director and Chief Curator (2012–2016).
Ellsworth Kelly (1923–2015) was a painter, sculptor, and printmaker best known for his intensely hued geometric abstractions—often in monochrome and sometimes on shaped canvases—based on his keen observations of everyday life. This conversation was recorded in 2013 when Kelly received an honorary doctorate from Brandeis University.
We are pleased to air this program and invite you to visit the Rose to see Kelly’s Blue White (1962) in person within re: collections, Six Decades at the Rose Art Museum.
This Encore Presentation will be hosted online via Zoom and features closed captions. Registration is required.
