An opportunity to learn how to create otherworldly and painterly images with your cameras or iPhones.
Skill Level: All
Description: The set of photography techniques known as "light painting" provides an opportunity for creating otherworldly and painterly images with our cameras or iPhones. This hands-on class will cover a range of techniques that rely on slow shutter speeds, including panning, zooming, painting with flashlights, and creating abstract images with moving lights.
The first session, offered on Zoom, is an interactive lecture that introduces you to light painting techniques, including editing, and helps you practice setting up your camera or iPhone to take long-exposure photos. Note that this session will be recorded.
The second session will be an outdoor, in-person class at LexArt. You will have a chance to practice all the techniques covered in the first session. You will also be able to try out the instructor's collection of light-painting tools including light-up gloves and a fiber-optic dance whip. The second class will be held indoors if it rains.
Notes:
-Zoom information will be provided prior to the class.
-If you plan to use an iPhone for this class you will have to download the app Slow Shutter Cam ($1.99).
