About The Workshop
FPAC Artist Shahnoor Shafqat will be teaching a single day silk painting workshop. In the workshop, students will paint silk using dyes for silk, and explore the different effects of salt and sugar on silk. Students will also learn best practices for resist-dyeing for silk paining, practice simple resist dying techniques to control the flow of wet dyes, and each student will take home a painted silk fabric by the end of class.

Wooden frames
Wooden Handle foam brushes, soft water color brushes
Gutta Resist and/or other water -soluble resist
Alcohol Inks and Alcohol
Sugar and Salt
About The Artist
Shah Noor Shafqat has an MFA in design and illustration from the School of Art at the University of Arizona and a BFA in textile design from the National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan.
Shah Noor has a diverse portfolio that includes color & material design, fashion design, and textiles. Her textile paintings have been displayed in conjunction with Genome: Unlocking Life's Code which was developed by the Smithsonian Museum and presented by the Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine.
