Savor the Square is a Saturday series on a city-owned lot in Nubian Square which brings together existing brick and mortar businesses and entrepreneurial vendors into one marketplace in the business districts’ core. It complements existing businesses, by introducing new customers that are essential to their survival. Mature open-air markets (e.g. Roslindale) report an exponential increase in foot traffic in the business district and a subsequent increase in spending at local businesses. Savor the Square serves as the key component in the broader overall strategy to brand the Square as The Heart and Soul of Roxbury and as a destination for residents and visitors. It is actively marketed throughout the community and the City through digital and physical media.

Savor the Square 2022 will continue to provide fresh and affordable food, entertainment for families, local vendors, and themed events and holidays such as Indigenous Peoples’ Day with local speakers and vendors that celebrate the intersection of Indigenous, Black, and Brown identities and histories in Roxbury.
