The exhibition highlights the changing landscape of South Boston over the last 50 years, a community with an industrial history currently experiencing development and gentrification
Southie Then and Now – A Neighborhood Transformed by artist Jared Katsiane from June 1-30, 2022. “I’m honored and excited to share this exhibition with the community, and hope it provides an opportunity for viewers to reflect on Hyde Park’s future,” Jared Katsiane.
Southie Then and Now - A Neighborhood Transformed features split-screen images from Hollywood’s views of South Boston with 2021 footage of identical locations, documenting the transformation of South Boston, from a working-class factory community, to today’s gentrified area with luxury condos.
The exhibition includes a community forum on June 18 from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM, an opportunity for residents, representatives from community organizations, and invited elected officials to meet and discuss the kind of development they wish to see in Hyde Park.
