Accomplished local ceramic artist Kirsten Bassion (www.kirstenbassion.com and www.TheClaySchool.com) will be hosting a one day workshop at The Umbrella. Join us for demonstrations of her full process of making; from throwing forms to her unique and layered slip and underglaze surface decoration. Kirsten will share her artistic inspirations and personal journey, as well as the unique perspectives she has formed as the owner of a strong and growing ceramic community, The Clay School in Lynn, MA.
She will be throwing forms on the wheel and then decorating them with layers of porcelain, paper stencils, and under glazes to achieve a look that stands out from the crowd. You will have an opportunity to try your hand at the techniques you learn during the workshop on some small tiles which will be provided. All experience levels welcome.
