Concert for Ukraine and Yemen: All-Mozart Chamber Orchestra

Concert for Ukraine and Yemen: All-Mozart Chamber Orchestra

Presented by Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund at Harvard-Epworth United Methodist Church

We present the final concert of Music for Peace’s 2022-2023 season, to benefit humanitarian relief for victims of the Ukraine and Yemen wars.

The Music for Peace Chamber Orchestra will present two Mozart concertos.   It will feature members of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra with soloists Jean Huang and Kingsley Chen, and will be conducted by Victor Rosenbaum.

Program:

Concerto in A Major, K. 488, with 10 year old Kingsley Chen, piano soloist
Concerto No. 5 in A Major, K. 219, with Jean Huang, violin soloist.

The concert will be performed live at Harvard-Epworth Methodist Church.

Attendees are invited to a reception with the musicians and MAPA board members after the performance.

The concert will benefit humanitarian relief for war victims in Ukraine and Yemen.

Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine is causing immense human suffering.   NATO expansion led up to the situation.   There is no military solution and we call for an immediate ceasefire and a negotiated settlement, not more weapons, troops, or sanctions. Read our statement on the Russia-Ukraine war. Our donations will support humanitarian relief for Ukrainian refugees.

The Saudi/UAE bombing war in Yemen, using US-supplied planes, bombs, and missiles, has gone on for seven years with over 377,000 war deaths and 10 million Yemenis facing starvation, although a ceasefire is currently holding.  Our donations will support the  Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, led by Dr. Aisha Jumaan.  Watch our interview with Dr. Jumaan.
