Christopher Abrams "Model Citizens"; Sally S. Fine "Moon Tides".

Presented by Boston Sculptors Gallery at Boston Sculptors Gallery

Christopher Abrams presents Model Citizens, his newest offering of small-scale objects that fuse natural forms - rocks, trees, and other natural growths - with transportation and infrastructure. Abrams’ nonsensical mashups raise sobering questons: has humankind forced nature into thesehybrids? He volunteers that he “like[s] the way that these ridiculous ideas spring forth from some unconscious, deep seated anxiety about our environmental future, and help to make sense of the complexity unfolding around us“.

Sally S. Fine presents Moon Tides, an exhibition of sculpture, drawings and paintings informed by the artist’s fascination with the moon, which ranges from the scientific to the lyrical and from the tactile to the abstract. The phases of the moon provide a predictable and comforting cycle in an unpredictable world, as do the ebb and flow of the ocean’s tides which are concurrent with the moon’s phases.  As we look up to the moon and down to the ocean’s edge, we behold a universe beyond our comprehension, one that dwarfs our circumspect and small concerns.
