The Pterins libretto reading is part of the development process of a new opera by librettist and poet, Leah Harmon with dramaturgy and direction by Brenda Huggins featuring a cast of local actors: Susan Bywaters, Surrey Houlker, Jamie Lin, Andy McCarthy, Will Shapiro, and Keely Ventress.
Join us for a free live and in-person reading of the text of a new opera on the stunning outdoor grounds of the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site, followed by a Q & A with the cast and creators. The piece is centered in themes of conservation, poetry, and new breaking science about the special cells that birds, reptiles and some sea creatures have called pterins, which glow neon and are used for communication purposes between species. The story follows three young women in the 90's on a road trip across North America.
Admission is free of charge. R.S.V.P. required, as seating is limited. The reading will take place in the back yard area. Please come prepared with your own chair or blanket for seating. There is no food allowed per request of Olmsted Park.

The grounds of the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site are located at 99 Warren Street in Brookline, MA. Enter through the archway at the corner of Warren Street and Dudley Street. The reading will take place in the back yard area. Please come prepared with your own chair or blanket for seating.
There is no food allowed per request of Olmsted Park. Parking is available on Dudley street, or take the D-Green Line to Brookline Hills.
