Horizon Ensemble: The End of the Tunnel

Horizon Ensemble: The End of the Tunnel

Presented by Horizon Ensemble at Church of the Covenant

"If winter comes, can spring be far behind?" In these wintry years, we have had much to fear and many to mourn - but let us share some music together, which will help to remind us that there is hope on the horizon. Come join the Horizon Ensemble for an afternoon concert of orchestral landscapes.
We'll begin with Abraham López Díaz's The Pit and the Pendulum, based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story, and Lara Poe's Cold Evenings, a chilling evocation of winter. Afterwards, we will perform Vincent Persichetti's The Hollow Men, from the T.S. Eliot poem, both responses to World Wars. Finally, we finish with Maurice Ravel's Le tombeau de Couperin, a love letter to the French Baroque musical tradition and a wartime memorial to departed friends.
All audience members are required to wear masks at all times. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10. Please register online on Eventbrite. If you can't make it in person, there will be a livestream on YouTube.
