Trapped at home during the pandemic, many of us sought to relieve the doldrums by seeking inspiration outdoors; nature’s VISTAS delivered.
Anchoring the program is the world premiere of Walk Through a Strange Landscape, by Boston composer Elena Ruehr, who will be present. In Pulitzer Prize-winner Kevin Puts’ Seven Seascapes for winds and strings, each movement is inspired by literary quotes evoking the austerity and expanse of the open ocean. Also on the program: Morton Gould Benny’s Gig, written for his friend Benny Goodman to take past the Iron Curtain on a tour of the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War.
