Chameleon Arts Ensemble resumes its popular Up Close recital series with a program of piano trios filled with vivid colors, crystalline textures, and glistening, celestial magic, featuring violinist Robyn Bollinger, cellist Sarah Rommel, and pianist Elizabeth Schumann. Ravel marries his Basque heritage with the “antique” music of the Baroque in his a minor Piano Trio. Philippe Hersant, too, looks back to reach forward, conjuring carillon bells along the way with his Variations sur la Sonnerie de Sainte-Geneviève-du-Mont de Marin Marais. Also on the concert is Frank Bridge’s 1909 Miniatures and Mozart’s Piano Trio No. 5 in C Major, K. 548.
The Boston Globe praised Ms. Bollinger’s “bold musical expression.” The Times Argus wrote that Ms. Rommel “delivered the kaleidoscope of emotions that make this a masterpiece,” and The Washington Post called Ms. Schumann “deft, relentless, and devastatingly good.”
Tickets are $49 with $5 off for students and seniors.
