oin us for a World Music Concert with Suhail Yusuf and Amit Kavthekar on February 7 at 7:30pm. This concert features classical music from North India, with Hindustani musical instruments sarangi and tabla.
Join us for a live concert of classical music from North India, featuring Suhail Yusuf Khan on sarangi and Amit Kavthekar on tabla. Khan is a Ph.D. candidate in Ethnomusicology at Wesleyan University. He bases his research on his personal experience as an eighth-generation musician belonging to a lineage of Hindustani musicians that includes his legendary grandfather, Ustad Sabri Khan. Kavthekar, a versatile tabla player based in Boston area, studied under the illustrious tabla maestro Ustad Allarakha and his son, Ustad Zakir Hussain. This event is co-sponsored by the Center for Creative and Performing Arts, the Music and Dance Department, and the Commonwealth Honors Program.
Admission is free. Suggested donation of $10 at the door in to support scholarships for music students.
Advance registration is highly recomended as seating is limited.

There is limited street parking around the Salem State University campus in designated areas. Also, some metered spaces that run into the evening.
