ARLINGTON HEIGHTS HOLIDAY STROLL & TREE LIGHTING

Saturday, December 11, 2:00pm-5:00pm 

The Arlington Heights Community Association (AHCA) with support from the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present this year’s Arlington Heights Holiday Stroll & Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 11. Festivities will take place from 2:00pm to 5:00 pm.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy viewing 52 winter-themed painted windows in 22 business storefronts and are invited to support our Arlington businesses by dining and shopping locally. Free family fun activities will take place throughout the afternoon. The Roasted Granola Café, 1346 Massachusetts Avenue, will be serving hot apple cider and a snowman character will be strolling along Massachusetts Avenue handing out treats.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

2-4 pm: PAPER BIRDS & PAPER DRAGONS kids crafts (ages 5-9) with Tonya Grifkin, local artist and certified art teacher. Hosted by Wonder Yoga inside their studio at 1305 Massachusetts Avenue. Masks required.

2-4 pm: CLASSIC PHOTO-OP with face cutouts of Gingerbread person and a Snowman. Bring your cell phone! Hosted by Classic Kitchen and Bath inside their showroom at 1321 Massachusetts Avenue.

2-4 pm:  FAMILY GAMES Come play Corn Hole and Candy Cane Ring Toss games outdoors in front of the Heights Bus Depot on Massachusetts Avenue.  TOUCH A TRUCK In partnership with the Arlington Fire and Police Departments, kids will be able to talk to firefighters and police officers and view and touch a fire truck and police cruiser which will be stationed at the Heights Bus Depot.

2-5 pm: ARTISTS HOLIDAY STORE AND ARTISANS MARKET - An on-going sale of photography, mixed media and collage from nine visual artists, plus the work of three guest craftspeople: a textile artist, a glass and cards craftsperson and a fiber artist at the Roasted Granola Café, 1346 Massachusetts Avenue.

2-5 pm: ENJOY A 10% DISCOUNT to strollers at Sports Etc. located at 1303 Massachusetts Avenue.

3:30pm - 4:30pm

3:30 pm:  MUSIC PERFORMANCE Arlington's Basel Zayed, a virtuoso oud player and acclaimed vocalist, performs classical and contemporary Arabic music.  Repeats at 4:15; free tickets at the door starting at 3 pm. Limited to 20; masks required.  Hosted by RepHAIRations, 1339 Massachusetts Avenue

4:15pm - 4:45pm:  “MATHILDA’S BATH,” presented by Margaret Moody Puppets. Only Mrs. Piggle Wiggle’s magic can convince grimy Mathilda to take a bath in this light-hearted adaptation of a Betty MacDonald story. Margaret Moody tells the tale with needle-felted pig puppets and gentle humor. 5 pm:  TREE LIGHTING AND SING-ALONG WITH HOT CIDER AND COOKIES provided by ACMi (Arlington Community Media, Inc.) in front of their studio at 85 Park Avenue.
