Black Nativity is a joyous celebration of the Christmas story with drama, African dance and gospel music. Its cast of children and adults will lift your spirit and set your feet tapping. The National Center of Afro-American Artists is pleased to present its 49th season of Langston Hughes' Black Nativity, a gospel telling of the Christmas story. A highly energetic song-play narrated in black vernacular speech, our production features a dramatic "pas de deux" performed to African drums in which the dancing Mary delivers the newly born Christ Child to a mesmerized audience. You will be swept away by the cast of more than fifty joy-filled children, men and women lifting their voices in glee.
Tickets start at $35 and may be purchased in advance or at the door in-person.
