Pastels for Beginners/Intermediates

Pastels for Beginners/Intermediates

Presented by Arlington Center for the Arts at Arlington Center for the Arts

4 Thursdays, 6:30 – 8:00 pm If you have dabbled in pastels, have you ever been puzzled about how the artist arrived at that particular color? What does she know that you don’t? Well, she knows that there is a system. A color wheel can be a terrific tool in organizing and creating colors. This 4-week class will give you a solid foundation on the use of color when using pastels.

EXTRAS
•You can use a strip of corrugated cardboard as a way to organize your sticks in a box.
• Make a chart with a few marks of each color and its name. As you run out, you can refer to the chart to buy the exact same color without any guesswork.
• If the sticks get coated with other colors, place the sticks in a container filled with either ground rice, semolina or cornmeal. Put the lid on and shake it gently. Sift out the material from the sticks and the sticks will be clean.
