Aaron Parks Solo Piano

Presented by Mandorla Music at Hope Central Church

Mandorla Music presents pianist Aaron Parks playing solo at Hope Central Church in Jamaica Plain!

Pianist Aaron Parks was already enrolled at the Manhattan School of Music when he released his debut recording at age 16 in 1999. He was hired by trumpeter Terence Blanchard at 18 and released the acclaimed Invisible Cinema on Blue Note at 25. His recorded output since includes an album of solo piano improvisations (Arborescence), music for trio (Groovements, Finding the Way), two albums with his genre-bending quartet Little Big and, most recently, a collaboration with Miami-based hybrid orchestra the Nu Deco Ensemble. He's also appeared and recorded on projects lead by a range of other prominent jazz figures, including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Terri Lyne Carrington, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Gretchen Parlato, and many others.

For this rare solo show, Aaron says we can expect a mix of complete improvisations, original compositions, and interpretations of off-the-beaten-path standards.
