The Guild of Boston Artists is proud to present “Ralph S. Jacobs: Recent Works.”
The Guild of Boston Artists is proud to present "Ralph S. Jacobs: Recent Works" from October 2-23 at our Newbury Street gallery. The show will feature a beguiling collection of the artists newest still-life and landscape paintings.
Working on a small scale, Jacobs encourages viewers to walk right up to his artworks to appreciate their detail and form. His delicate paintings hold the attention of the viewer by forcing them to place the artwork within their personal space in order to take in all of the fine points.
His miniature still life paintings maintain the Boston School style with stunning accuracy to form and masterful depiction of light. By bringing attention to life’s small things, Jacobs elevates everyday items to pieces of art themselves. His plein air landscapes, while still adhering to the teachings of the Boston School, are slightly more impressionistic. The small scale of the landscape paintings allows for appreciation of the essence of the place rather than its every detail. It is almost as if you can feel the air and the wind around you as you look out onto the vistas captured by the artist.
