Description: In this second session, we will explore making chains, both unsoldered and soldered, work on soldering skills, forming metal, making your own clasps and ear wires.   We will also do tube settings to set faceted gemstones.

This is a 7-class series.

Class meets on:  10/27; 11/3; 11/10; 11/17; 12/1; 12/8 and 12/15

10/27   Low Tech Chain making

11/3     Soldered Chains such as Cable Chains

11/10   Making your own clasps and ear wires.

11/17   Forming sheet metal with Dapping Block and Stamping patterns.

12/1     Making Tube bezels and setting faceted gemstones

12/8     Continue to work on Tube bezels

12/15    Finishing up projects.

The toolbox contains: saw frame and blades, one large file and a set of needle files, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, scissors, safety glasses, tweezers, a solder pick, 4 grits of sandpaper,   drill bits, and solder.

In addition to the toolboxes available to rent, students should bring a basic assortment of hand tools (jeweler's saw/blades; pliers; files; visors, etc) and the metal/material they plan to use.

Course Level: Advanced Beginner

Prerequisites: Students should have taken Beginner/Advanced Beginner Series- Session 1 from LexArt or a similar Beginners class.
