Beginning August 4, Fountain Street will exhibit “The Momentary,” featuring the work of the Gallery’s Associate Members. The show of painting, photography, sculpture, collage and mixed media illuminates time as a marker, both absolute and arbitrary. Things can change in a minute. An instant can seem staggering. The momentary is consequential.

Artists excel at capturing a fleeting moment, in elevating a moment that is overlooked. But what happens when the moment instead captures you, when a void opens, as it did in March 2020? The exhibiting artists consider how time functions in their respective mediums and art practices, and how their various approaches changed as a result of the pandemic. This is indeed a “timely” show, with eclectic work ranging from pieces situated in the present to those in an entirely different temporal frame. It is sure to give the viewer pause.
