Jazz in the Park: Celebrating Great African-American Composers

Presented by Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra at Institute Park

This concert is entitled Jazz in the Park:  Celebrating Great African-American Composers.  Led by Jorge Soto, this performance will feature members of the Massachusetts Symphony along with guest artists Yoron Israel, Rich Kelley, Angel Subero and other jazz masters.  The concert date is Sunday, July 18 at 7PM at Worcester's Institute Park, 82 Salisbury Street.  Rain date is Sunday, July 25 at 7PM.  Free admission.  Repertoire includes Handy's St. Louis Blues, Duke Ellington's Caravan and Satin Doll, Count Basie's One O'Clock Jump, Billy Strayhorn's Take the "A" Train, Mercer Ellington's Things Ain't What They Used To Be, Miles Davis' Vierd Blues and All Blues, St. Thomas by Sonny Rollins, Ray Charles' Mary Ann and What I'd Say, John Coltrane's Impressions and Mr. P.C., Herbie Hancock's Watermelon Man, and When The Saints Go Marching In by Louis Armstrong/Traditional.

Major Funders include the Worcester Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council ("MCC"), a state agency and the MCC's Massfestivals program.
