Virtual Program: Abstract Landscape Painting with Amanda Hawkins

Virtual Program: Abstract Landscape Painting with Amanda Hawkins

Presented by Cambridge Art Association at Online/Virtual Space

This workshop explores abstraction, color and mark through the lens of landscape painting. A series of sequential exercises will help students identify the relationship between value and hue, build non-conventional palettes, loosen up, and abandon the local colors of the landscape. This workshop is meant to provide access to the vocabulary of abstraction for all-level artists. Attendees can expect to complete several color studies on paper, a value sketch and other preparatory work during this session.
Amanda K. Hawkins is an award winning painter living and working in Boston, MA. She received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Boston University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Art Education from Montserrat College of Art. Amanda exhibits her work throughout New England, teaches painting workshops across North America, and has work in private collections across the globe. She maintains an active blog, sharing her studio practice with over 25K people worldwide. Amanda can often be found outside, seeking inspiration for paintings in local and far away landscapes.
