Beyond the Notes at The Umbrella - POSTPONED

Presented by The Umbrella Arts Center at The Umbrella Arts Center

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Due to an unexpected medical emergency and hospitalization of one of the featured artists, this weekend's performances of Beyond the Notes at The Umbrella (July 31 and Aug 1) must be postponed. Fortunately, we anticipate the artist’s recovery and expect to reschedule for a near future date to be determined.

While the health and well-being of our artists is of paramount importance, we regret any inconvenience to you, and assure you that staff will reach out to all ticketholders regarding options for receiving a full refund or reserving your spot for the rescheduled dates. At that time, the Curator’s Tour of The Umbrella’s Dazzleship exhibition with Michael MacMahon will also be rescheduled.

The Umbrella Arts Center and Beyond the Notes thank you for your understanding, support and patronage.

Beyond the Notes
July 31 & Aug 1
40 Stow Street | gobeyondthenotes.com

Performing live from The Umbrella Arts Center, violinist and Beyond the Notes Founding Artistic Director Sarah Whitney is back for her first full form, in-person concerts since the pandemic began.

What is Beyond the Notes?

Beyond the Notes is a unique concert experience like no other.

Started 8 years ago by Concord-native Sarah Whitney, this interactive concert experience changes perceptions of traditional classical concerts and deepens the connection between audience and performer.

In addition to presenting some of today’s most sought after musicians, Beyond the Notes invites audience members to participate in the concert by submitting written questions to be answered live onstage by the performers.

Joined by NYC-based cellist Ani Kalayjian, the two performers will take the audience on an unforgettable journey, presenting an eclectic program of solos and duos that highlights the works of Black composers. The program will also feature a unique collaboration with experimental animator Sarah E. Jenkins, one of the many artists represented in The Umbrella Arts Center gallery show, Dazzleship.

20% of all proceeds will be donated to CLASP, a national, nonpartisan, anti-poverty nonprofit advancing policy solutions for low-income people. CLASP develops practical yet visionary strategies for reducing poverty, promoting economic opportunity, and addressing barriers faced by people of color.
