One World 2021

One World 2021

Presented by The Mary Baker Eddy Library at The Mary Baker Eddy Library

It’s time for The Mary Baker Eddy Library’s 16th annual One World program—a series of free art and cultural events targeted for children ages 4–12.

This year’s program series is designed for everyone to explore online—from home, summer camp, or anywhere there’s a computer screen!

This series will take place weekly over six Tuesday mornings: July 13, 20, 27, and August 3, 10, 17.

Each week we’ll learn about a different corner of the globe, with cultural activities from the nations of Mexico, Democratic Republic of the CongoPhilippines, Aotearoa (Māori, the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand)Greece, and India.

Events include live performances, arts and crafts, storytimes, and complimentary book giveaways.

ACTIVITIES & REGISTRATION:

Daily Introduction: “Big Blue Earth” sing-along
Join us each Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. EDT and help open the day’s program, by singing “Big Blue Earth.” This children’s song was the original inspiration for One World and is featured in the Mapparium® Exhibit—the name comes from this line in the song: “I see you, you see me, all one world, one family.” It teaches us about peace and how to care for our global family.

Global Adventures with The Christian Science Monitor
Join us each Tuesday at 10:50 a.m. EDT! This year the Library is collaborating with The Christian Science Monitor to bring engaging experiences from around the world to your camp, classroom, or home. Each week we’ll learn a fun and inspiring story about our global neighbors. Examples include how a sport played in ancient Mexico is becoming popular again and how a teenager in India started her own library and made a difference in her village!

As both the founder of Christian Science and the Monitor, Mary Baker Eddy believed that news has a powerful role in shaping how we see the world. She started the newspaper over 100 years ago, to embrace the world with the objective “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind.”
