Art surrounds you; you just need to learn how to see it. You will learn to look at your surroundings until you see something beautiful or interesting and then you will use your smartphone to photograph it. Seeing and photographing can be a kind of mindfulness, a form of meditation that doesn't require sitting still. We will start by looking at photographic examples of what it means to look and then what it means to see. By changing your perspective, looking up, down, looking close and even closer-you will see how beauty is everywhere - you just need to start noticing. After looking at numerous examples, we will talk about the basic elements of composition. For the next few classes, we will go out to look, see and photograph and come back to talk about everybody's work. This class is not about a prescribed way of seeing; it's about seeing things that you yourself will enjoy. And by sharing our photographs and discussing them, we will learn more about how to walk in our world noticing the beauty that surrounds us every day
